This Privacy Policy explains how Expenso ("we," "our," "the app") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application. Expenso is designed around a simple principle: your financial data belongs to you.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo to create and identify your account.
  • Financial data you enter. Transactions, categories, budgets, and your starting balance, all entered directly by you inside the app.
  • Device & usage information. Basic technical data (app version, device type) used only for diagnosing crashes and compatibility issues.

2. How we use your information

  • To operate core features: tracking transactions, generating statistics, and rendering reports.
  • To sync your data across devices when you use Cloud Backup.
  • To authenticate you securely via Google Sign-In.
  • To improve app stability and fix bugs.

We do not sell your personal or financial data to third parties, and we do not use your transaction data for advertising.

3. Where your data is stored

Your transactions, categories, and budgets are stored locally on your device. If you use the Cloud Backup feature, a copy is securely stored in our Firebase (Google Cloud) project, scoped to your account, so only you can access it.

4. Data sharing

We use Firebase (Google) for authentication and optional cloud backup storage. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and compliance standards. We do not share your data with any other third party.

5. Your choices

  • You can export or delete your data at any time from within the app.
  • You can sign out, which removes your session from the device.
  • You can request full account and data deletion by contacting us.

6. Children's privacy

Expenso is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
